Pre-Engineered Steel Shop with Mezzanine and Lean-To in Clayton, CA

Metal Building Outlet sourced this spacious, custom-designed steel shop for a client in Clayton, California, in late November 2024.

Comprised of a main shop building with an interior mezzanine and an attached steel lean-to, the building boasts 5,400 square feet of open interior space in the main area, 1,080 square feet of open floor space on the mezzanine and another 324 square feet of covered space under the lean-to. Equal parts functional and fashionable, the shop has Dark Brown walls with a Black roof and trim, resulting in a bold, modern look and feel.

There are 2’ overhangs surrounding the building on all sides, which serve two key purposes. First, the overhangs created covered, dry outdoor storage or work space. Second, they help prevent rain from collecting on the roof and coming in contact with the shop’s outside walls, preserving structural integrity.

Gutters and downspouts offer another layer of protection against moisture and leaks, and a 3-psf collateral load in the roof will support the future addition of solar panels, boosting overall energy efficiency. A 5’x4’ window lets natural light inside, creating a bright, inviting interior.
