Pre-Engineered Steel Plant Nursery in Two Harbors, Minnesota

When a resident of Two Harbors, Minnesota, needed a climate-controlled, year-round place to grow and tend to plants, he contacted Metal Building Outlet, which sent the building kit for this pre-engineered steel plant nursery to the build site in August 2024.

Custom-designed to meet the buyer’s needs, the building has a wide clear span that creates an open, flexible floorplan ideal for growing plants. Key features include 18 clear polycarbonate light-transmitting roof panels, which flood the interior with natural light and create an ideal growing environment for plants and greenery.

The metal plant nursery also has an insulation package that keeps interior temperatures consistent and well-suited for agriculture, with half of the roof and three of the walls containing 6” of R-19 fiberglass insulation. The building also boasts a heavy snow load to accommodate the area’s heavy seasonal snowfall, maximizing durability during variable weather.

On the outside, the building has an attractive “barn” aesthetic, with Red walls, White trim and a Black roof drawing the eye and boosting curb appeal. Serving double-duty as both a practical space for plant cultivation and an attractive addition to the owner’s property, this durable, multifunctional metal building streamlines the owner’s year-round gardening efforts while protecting plants from pests and the elements.
