Insulated Steel Commercial Shop in Fort Morgan, Colorado

Metal Building Outlet supplied this prefabricated steel commercial shop for a repeat customer in Fort Morgan, Colorado, sending the building kit to the jobsite in July 2024.

The client wanted another shop building to match an existing one already on the property, and Metal Building Outlet worked closely with him to create a custom building to meet his needs. Designed for maximum energy efficiency, the building offers impressive thermal performance thanks to the additions of roof and wall insulation, and it also has insulated entry doors with insulated windows to further prevent the loss of heated or cooled air.

The building’s roof and walls contain R-32 and R-25 Simple Saver insulation packages, respectively, with the Simple Saver systems allowing the fiberglass insulation blankets to maintain their maximum thickness, leading to improved performance. The commercial shop’s roof and walls also have liner panels, which help protect the insulation blankets inside of them while improving the interior aesthetics of the building.

The steel shop’s exterior also offers stylistic appeal, boasting Surfsand-colored walls and a combination of Surfsand and Burnished Slate architectural trim. There is also 4’ of color-changing wainscoting along all four walls, giving the outside of the shop a polished, distinctive look.

The client wanted 2’ overhangs on all sides of the building to help protect the exterior walls and create usable, covered outdoor space, and he also opted for gutters and downspouts to facilitate drainage and divert moisture away from the roof and foundation. Metal Building Outlet also engineered the structure in line with local building codes to maximize structural stability.
