Prefabricated Steel Personal Shop Building in Durango, Colorado
Metal Building Outlet sent the kit for this pre-engineered steel personal shop building to Durango, Colorado, in late February 2025.
Engineered for the variable climate characteristics of southwestern Colorado and custom-designed in line with the owner’s wants and needs, this shop offers 2,400 square feet of column-free floor space great for storing items, completing projects or working on cars, trucks or machinery, among other potential uses. Climate-controlled to enhance comfort during all four seasons, the metal shop has 6” of R-19 fiberglass insulation in its roof and another 4” of R-13 fiberglass insulation in the walls. Color-coated tabs hold the insulation blankets in place, preventing air leaks, with the insulation system leading to lower heating and cooling bills, better noise control and reduced risk of condensation, among other benefits.
Other noteworthy building customizations include six large windows and 2’ overhangs on all walls, the latter of which keep rain and snow from coming in contact with the exterior walls while creating covered outdoor storage space at the same time. Spacious, versatile and easy to erect and maintain, this steel shop building is an economical, sustainable alternative to other building types that maintains its beauty and functionality over time while needing very little maintenance in return.
