Metal Building Outlet sourced this custom pre-engineered steel shop building for a repeat client in Dolores, Colorado, in February 2025.

Designed for use as a personal shop, the durable, easy-to-raise metal building features 2,160 square feet of climate-controlled interior space usable for storage, as a workspace or for any number of other applications. A 36’x20’ interior mezzanine provides another 720 square feet of usable space, while seven windows in several different sizes allow plenty of natural sunlight inside, boosting ambiance while reducing the owner’s reliance on artificial heat and electrical systems.

A heavy snow load makes the metal shop building well-equipped for Dolores’ significant annual snowfall, while an insulation package keeps inside temperatures comfortable while lowering energy expenses. The roof of the shop features a double-layer banded insulation system, while the walls hold R-19 fiberglass insulation blankets, boosting the building’s thermal performance.

Other noteworthy customizations include 2’ overhangs along all four walls, which protect the shop’s outside walls from moisture while creating covered outdoor storage space the owner can use to store non-temperature-sensitive items.
