3 Prefabricated Steel Commercial Buildings in Fort Yates, North Dakota

Metal Building Outlet supplied the metal building kits for this trio of pre-engineered steel commercial buildings, sending the components to a client in Fort Yates, North Dakota, who already owns several other pre-engineered Metal Building Outlet buildings, in March of 2025.

The package included steel parts for two enclosed metal commercial buildings as well as a spacious roof-only structure, with the three buildings used to store correspondence, land records and other administrative documents for a local tribal organization. Sturdy, secure and resistant to fire, strong winds and other common construction hazards, these insulated, energy-efficient metal buildings have windows throughout that brighten up the interior and a high-performance Energy Saver insulation system that keeps inside temperatures comfortable, consistent and ideal for storing temperature-sensitive documents.

In the roofs of the two enclosed steel buildings are R-38 multi-layer insulation systems with White liner panel fabric functioning as protective covers over the fiberglass blankets. The walls, meanwhile, contain R-35 single-layer insulation systems held in place by InsulHold coils, thermal tape, banding and screws. In addition to improving the buildings’ thermal efficiency, the insulation packages also lead to other benefits, like improved sound control and lower heating and cooling bills throughout the year.

Other noteworthy steel building customizations include full-height White ceiling and wall liner panels.  There are also steel partitions in two of the buildings that function as firewalls and create designated spaces for document storage, staff work areas, or administrative or similar use. One of the three buildings also sports a 2’ overhang on the roof, creating covered outdoor space while protecting the outside walls from moisture.

Durable, low maintenance and designed to last, this trio of prefabricated steel buildings will serve the needs of the surrounding community for years to come by providing a secure, climate-controlled place to house important records and documents.
