Pair of Pre-Engineered Steel Shop Buildings in Hoxie, Kansas

Metal Building Outlet supplied this pair of prefabricated steel shop buildings for a client in Hoxie, Kansas, in mid-May 2024.

The project includes one main shop building and another attached metal lean-to. The first 20’ of the main shop lacks wall sheeting, giving the owner a covered, open-air space to work or store supplies, while the rest of the steel shop remains fully enclosed.

Attached to the main shop is a mostly open-air steel lean-to, with both structures boasting Burnished Slate exteriors with Steel Gray architectural trim. Both buildings also have base trim and 4’ of color-change wainscoting, giving their exteriors a sleek, professional appearance.

Designed and engineered for life in the Midwest, the metal shops have gutters and downspouts that channel rain and snow away from their roofs, walls and foundations, helping preserve structural integrity. Inside the buildings are Burnished Slate roof liner panels, which protect the insulation rolls installed in the roof while giving the interiors of both buildings a clean, finished look. The walls of the main shop building also have a Polar White liner panel, while the lean-to also has a wall liner panel with interior wainscoting for added style.

An insulation package in the enclosed portion of the main building keeps energy bills low and building users comfortable, regardless of the season or outside temperatures.  The roof holds high R-value, R-38 insulation, while the walls contain an R-19 Simple Saver insulation system with several inches of spray foam insulation included as well. Durable, low-maintenance and easy to access thanks to multiple door openings in varying sizes, this pair of metal shop buildings is a practical, versatile addition to the property that serves a wide range of purposes for the owner.
