Pre-Engineered Steel Daycare Building in Katy, Texas

Metal Building Outlet sent this prefabricated steel building kit to Katy, Texas, in March 2024, and the building now functions as a daycare facility.

Attractive, energy-efficient and customized to meet the business owner’s needs, the steel building has Polar White exterior walls and a complementing Ash Gray roof and trim. A 3’ bump-out adds dimension and character to the façade, enhancing aesthetic appeal while providing a practical space for sheltered drop-offs and pick-ups.

Exterior wainscoting adds texture and visual interest to the outside, while a 14” overhang with soffit panels provides shade and protection from the elements. The metal daycare also features a front-entrance hip condition, a design choice that boosts the steel building’s visual appeal while strengthening its structural integrity.

Reinforced for a 23’x6’ aluminum canopy, the building also has a covered, shaded area that gives children access to the outdoors while remaining protected from the elements. The buyer also purchased a high-performance insulation system for the business, adding an R-30 banded insulation system with VRR+ backing in the roof and an R-25 Energy Saver insulation system with fabric in the walls. This allows the daycare to maintain a comfortable interior temperature year-round, and it also reduces energy consumption, lowering operational costs and environmental impact.

The daycare also has a heavy wind load in consideration of the strong wind and storm activity that sometimes comes through the region.
