Metal Building Outlet secured this prefabricated metal building in Cortez, Colorado, in late February of 2020.

Rugged, durable and highly energy efficient, the building currently undergoes use as a shop and is 65’x108’x16’ in size. Overhead, its roof has a 3:12 pitch and is comprised of heavy-duty Galvalume metal panels, delivering reliable protection from above. The shop has (2) framed door openings that offer easy access inside, which include (1) 10’x10’ opening enclosing (1) 10’x10’ door and (1) 3070 walk door opening housing (1) 3070 walk door. It also features (8) 3’x10’8” skylights that allow plenty of natural light to enter the space.

The steel workshop also features a high-performance insulation package that includes a layer of high R-value, R-32 insulation in the roof and R-25 insulation in the walls. The package helps lower the building’s lifelong energy bills, and it also helps ensure a comfortable interior environment, regardless of temperature or season.

Other noteworthy shop customizations added with respect for the typical climate characteristics of the area include a 115-mph wind speed rating and a 35-psf snow load. The most populated community in southwestern Colorado’s Montezuma County, Cortez sits about 75 miles southwest of Telluride and about 12 miles outside Dolores.
