Steel Building in Madison, Wisconsin

Metal Building Outlet supplied this steel building in Madison, Wisconsin in March, 2014.  This building features steel components from Nucor and is used as an equipment storage/shop about 75 miles from Milwaukee and about 275 miles from Green Bay in southern Wisconsin.

Occasionally, the process to order a prefabricated metal building requires tweaking and frequent consultations with our professional staff. This project was one of those instances.  Several plans were exchanged between Metal Building Outlet and the owner of this building until the customer was able to feel completely satisfied.  Some of the concerns which were discussed over the several hours of phone consultation (at no additional charge to the customer) were the snow load. It began at 30 PSF then raised to 40 PSF and finally lowered to 35 PSF. Also the locations of the doors and overhangs (14’x14’ overhead and 3’x7’ walk door). The customer decided to purchase the wainscot portal frame only with a 2’ overhang and purchase the sheeting a few months later.

The final size of this shop is: 60’x100’x18’ and the roof has a 1:12 pitch. The building is rated for wind speeds to 90 MPH, suitable for Dane County.
