Steel Gymnastics Arena in Longmont, Colorado

Metal Building Outlet supplied this pre-engineered recreational steel building in Longmont, Colorado, in October of 2013.

Now the home base of Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics, one of the region’s premier gymnastics training facilities, this massive, climate-controlled steel gymnastics arena features a huge clear span that eliminates interior columns or supports, creating ample space for a floor and other gymnastics apparatus.

Supplied for the owner of several existing gyms in the Denver area, this particular steel gym boasts numerous upgrades inside and out and features a striking, contemporary exterior. The city of Longmont asked that such a large building have ample curb appeal and Metal Building Outlet delivered, engineering the metal gym with a wide range of aesthetic upgrades and customizations.

Features & Customizations
Expansive and complex, the home of Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics is 156’x200’x30’ and has an open, column-free interior and high ceilings that leave plenty of room for equipment and athletics. A 50’x50’ mezzanine above the office area creates additional usable floor space, and a 12’x23’ covered entry area helps gymnasts, coaches and other building users stay dry in inclement weather.

The city of Longmont wanted to ensure the building blended well with the surrounding community, and Metal Building Outlet took many steps to ensure that. The building features parapets in the roof that conceal mechanical equipment. It also features insulated exterior panels with a stucco finish, which give the outside of the building an elegant, contemporary look.

Numerous windows also enhance the metal gym’s aesthetic appeal. There are (12) 6’x6’ window openings and (2) 4’x6’ window openings that allow plenty of natural sunlight inside.

While the insulated exterior panels enhance the gym’s energy-efficiency, so, too, does a high R-value, R-30 Energy Saver insulation system. Between the exterior panels and the roof and wall insulation, the building owner pays less in energy costs each month than he does for another building he owns that is half this one’s size.

Durable, eye-catching and low-maintenance, this metal gym makes for a solid addition to the city of Longmont and gives community members a safe, all-season place to learn gymnastics or cheerleading, host parties or attend competitions and camps. It also complies with all building and engineering codes in place in Longmont, boasting a 30-psf snow load and a 105-mph wind rating.
