Insulated Metal Agricultural Building in Ronan, Montana

Metal Building Outlet secured this customized steel agricultural building for a customer in Ronan, Montana, in February 2023.

Now part of the infrastructure at a certified seed farm, the spacious steel farm building has a wide-open floor plan, high ceilings and a wide hangar door that can accommodate crop dusters and other small aircraft. The buyer wanted to install insulation at the time of the building’s erection, which tends to be easier and cheaper than doing it later, and added 6” of R-19 insulation in the walls and an R-30 multi-layer insulation system in the roof.

Both the roof and wall insulation have VRR+ facing on the side facing inward, which helps protect the insulation blankets from damage and condensation. Other notable agricultural building features include gutters and downspouts, which help prevent rain and snow from collecting on the roof.
