Metal Shop in Elk Grove, California Maximizes Space with Lean-To & Mezzanine
Metal Building Outlet supplied this pre-engineered metal shop and lean-to for a client in Elk Grove, California, in early July 2025.
Insulated and customized inside and out to align with the buyer’s needs, the personal shop building spans 1,050 square feet with another 280 square feet of covered space under an attached, enclosed lean-to and another 180 square feet on an interior mezzanine. A double-layer banded roof insulation system and another 4” of R-13 insulation in the walls create a comfortable environment with consistent year-round temperatures, with the insulation package also resulting in other benefits, like improved sound control and lowered electric bills. The insulation blankets came in pre-cut packages to streamline installation.
There are 2’ overhangs on the outside of the shop and lean-to, which create covered outdoor storage space while keeping moisture from coming in contact with the shop’s exterior walls. The shop also has two 3030 louver openings, which improve ventilation and airflow while keeping out rain, debris and pests.
