Prefabricated Metal Shop Building & Lean-Tos in Norwood Young America, MN

Metal Building Outlet sent the building kit for this custom metal shop building to Norwood Young America, Minnesota, in July of 2025.

Spacious, climate-controlled and custom-designed to meet the owner’s needs and wants, this project includes one main shop building and two metal lean-tos flanking either side. The three structures fused together all feature open, clear-span interiors, providing plenty of space to store vehicles or aircraft, house inventory and supplies, or complete projects, tasks and day-to-day work.

Designed for year-round use in Minnesota, this shop includes a high-performance insulation package for the roof and walls. Installed in the roof is an R-38 long tab banded insulation system, while the walls house an R-25 Energy Saver insulation system. On the outside, the metal shop has eye-catching Burnished Slate walls and complementary Black trim, and 1’ eave and rake extensions surround all sides, creating dry outdoor storage space while protecting the exterior walls from moisture.

Other notable customizations include 4’ of wainscoting along all four sides and three 14’x14’ rows of windows that let ample natural light inside. Both steel lean-tos also feature 8’ liner panels, improving how they look from the inside while protecting the interior walls.
