Metal Building Outlet sourced this pre-engineered metal building for a customer in Grizzly Flats, California, in June of 2022.

Now functioning as a “barndominium,” or a steel building that undergoes use as both a residential home and another type of usable space, the building serves double-duty as a house and shop and stands an expansive 32’x62’x12’ when raised. A clear span design maximizes floor space by creating a column-free interior, while high ceilings make the living and work space even more versatile.

Offering protection from above is a hardwearing, corrosion-resistant Galvalume gable roof with a 4.85:12 pitch, and (3) 10’x10’ overhead door openings serve as additional barndominium features, allowing access in and out. Other notable customizations include an upgraded collateral load that will accommodate the weight of solar panels and 3’ of wainscoting with transition trim surrounding the steel building’s exterior, which boosts its curb appeal.

The metal barndominium also features a 40-psf roof snow load and a 110-mph wind speed rating in adherence to local building codes.
